It’s the week before the mares foal, which to me, is way better than Christmas. Right now, the coming foals are buckskin fillies with perfect conformation. Once they are born, they are what they are. Both Slari and Aya are due July 29th, and are progressing without any drama (good thing as last year had WAY too much drama) They are bagged up nicely, getting loose behind and their milk is starting to get some color. (translation: They are getting close to foaling). Today, Slari looked like she might be having some contractions, but if so, they are probably very early on.
The ladies taking an after lunch siesta in the arena. Slari is the bay, Aya the buckskin.
I will be checking them at 2 hour intervals from now on, thank goodness for my webcam!
So, it’s exciting, but it’s a slow sort of fizzy excitement.
Stay tuned..
