Gala (Galadrielle – Miril x JBK Gulkusi) is finally here after a LOOOOONNNNNGGGG time in transit. I’m not sure exactly what happened, she left North Carolina on March 24th, meandered through a bunch of states and then had a nice vacation in California. I don’t know if the original shipper had health problems or what, but she ended up coming north from California with a different shipper and finally arrived here on May 11th. She got off the big trailer, sniffed me, did a huge sigh and then hopped right in my smaller trailer (the shipper’s trailer was too big to come down our private road, so we did an exchange in a nearby parking lot). She arrived around 9:30 pm on Friday and I basically checked her over, gave her a chance to roll and then tucked her in for the night with a bunch of hay.
It looks like she dropped a bit of weight from when she left NC, but we are going to fix that.
Getting into the trailer in NC back in March.
So far, she’s in quarantine and has developed a bit of a snotty nose, which isn’t unusual, but will keep her away from her new friends until it clears up. I’ve done some grooming, did a little bit of light lunging (walk only until the snots clear up) and had her feet trimmed. She is such a lovely girl, so intelligent and thoughtful! I am very excited about our upcoming adventures.
You may not remember, but I showed her at the 2016 Rare Breeds Show, in what I think was her first time off the farm. She impressed me so much with her calm personality. I feel very fortunate that I was able to buy her. I think we will have LOTS of fun.
